Theosophical Order of Service (T.O.S.), Mumbai Region is doing good work for the underprivileged and for the education of poor children and welfare of their families, since the year 1969. Our Trust was registered in the year 1977 with regn. no. INS/11951, under Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950-E-4385 (Bom). We are registered under section under section 12-A of Income Tax Act, 1961. At present, we are helping 410 poor and deserving children for their education and there are many poor children on the waiting list. Planning Commission of Government of India, New Delhi has listed Theosophical Order of Service (T.O.S.), Mumbai Region as one of the good/valid Non-Government Organisations in India. We are also recommended by Save the Children Fund (U.K.), India Office, New Delhi. Our organization is a cosmopolitan charitable trust, non-political and we do not use funds for any religious purpose. 50% of our beneficiaries are poor people with family income of less than Rs. 2000/- to Rs. 3000/- per month and family income of less than Rs. 7000/- per month for those who are disadvantaged in other ways. Children are selected for sponsorship after due enquiry and investigation and on recommendation of the Principal of the Institution where the child is studying. Donations to T.O.S. are exempted from Income Tax under Section 80G of the I.T. Act 1961. Our Members also work for the blind, the sick and for animal welfare. We were supported by Save the Children Fund, London for more than thirty years, but now, SCF London has phased out this individual sponsorship scheme all over the world. Now we depend on the generosity of individual donors/sponsors from India & abroad. At present, 67 poor children are being sponsored by Share & Care Foundation, USA. We issue receipts for all donations/grants received by us. Our accounts are audited every year by a Chartered Accountant and are passed in Annual General Meetings. We are in great need of sponsors and shall be thankful to you, if you can lend your support, and also find more sponsors for us, for this project. We provide case history of the sponsored child alongwith the photograph of the child to the sponsor. Annually, we send a photocopy of the marksheet of the child with a letter of thanks from the child/parent to the sponsor.
