Dr.
Annie Besant, the illustrious founder of the
Theosophical Order of Service was a fiercely
independent woman, educator and a true friend
of India. All her life, she championed the
cause of women's rights. Theosophy to her
was not merely a way of knowing God, it was
a means of serving humanity. It is indeed
gratifying to know that this tradition of
service to humanity has been continued by
the Theosophical Order of Service till this
day. The Order deserves compliments for consistently
dong good work for the underprivileged, the
handicapped and for education of poor children.
The concern displayed by the members of the
Order in assisting victims of the Tsunami
disaster that struck coastal areas of South
India was commendable.

If we
could emulate even a percent of what all of
you do, the world would be a great place.

The
selfless commitment of the Theosophical Order
of Service towards alleviating the conditions
of the poor, the sick and the handdicapped
is indeed laudable. I am particularly happy
to know about the Theosophical Order's work
for the education of the poor children. In
today's world of inequalities of opportunities,
services of this type are most relevant and
necessary.
